Exploration, ruins and chests

Prepare expeditions, discover ruins and understand natural chest rewards in Wildoria 0.7.0.

In this guide

The player explores white ruins with columns and broken arches, two chests and rabbits beside a lake in Wildoria.

Explore without automatic treasure markers

Abandoned camps, ruins and secret chests are not automatically marked on the map. Watch the terrain rather than following treasure icons. Find cave entrances in the mountains, and bring a pickaxe, spear, torches, bandages, food and water. A final cave chest does not create a shortcut back outside.

Five visual families and three sizes

Blue-gray, brown, brown-gray, white and yellow ruins combine walls, columns, fragments and overgrown buildings. Their colour does not specify a blueprint. Individual pieces may be horizontally mirrored, and layouts are intentionally uneven.

These are generation rolls, not percentages of all world tiles. Terrain and protected places can reject candidates. A small ruin without a chest is normal.

Where to search

Ruins can occur on the surface in forests, plains, sakura woods and mountains, not inside caves or lakes. Generation avoids protected buildings, abandoned camps and cave entrances. Each 64 × 64-tile region has a 46% initial candidate roll, followed by terrain checks. This is not a 46% discovery chance per step, and no travel distance guarantees a ruin.

Natural chests and personal storage

Camp, ruin and cave chests shake, open and display light and sparkles before their inventory panel appears. After opening, they remain visually open. Their remaining contents are saved, and reopening or reconnecting does not refill them. An open chest may still contain items.

A crafted chest is personal storage. Its opening animation has no treasure effects and does not generate loot or blueprints.

Base loot and the extra reward

Within the cave classic-extra branch: 1 string (35%), 2 bandages (30%), 2–3 iron ore (25%) or 2–3 copper ore (10%). These are conditional percentages, not chances across all chests.

A ruin classic lot is 1–2 bandages (30%), 2–4 iron ore (25%), 1 string (15%), 1 stone pickaxe (15%), 2–4 copper ore (10%) or 1–2 apple or sakura seeds (5%). The seed branch chooses one of the two seed types.

Older worlds and previously opened chests

No restart is required. Previously discovered regions and existing developments are protected from new ruins appearing over them when exploration is activated. Travel into unexplored territory to find new sites.

Already initialized chests keep their contents, including empty slots; they are not rerolled retroactively for blueprints. New eligible chests use the current reward system. Reloading is not a way to renew rewards.

An expedition checklist

  1. Check tools, weather, time and supplies.
  2. Explore a new direction and inspect scattered fragments.
  3. Search different wings of a ruin, not just its centre.
  4. Recover discovered blueprints and prioritise bag space for useful loot.
  5. Return to craft only once you have the materials and required workstation.
