Crafting blueprints

The five unlockable recipes, their probabilities, duplicates and older saves.

Five recipes to learn

Only the bed, forge, salt extractor, meat dryer and shovel require discoverable blueprints. Their assembly-table recipes remain visible but are greyed out with a padlock until learned. Selecting a locked recipe displays the undiscovered-plan message.

The Roof blueprint is different: it is a reusable crafted building item, not one of these five unlocks.

Recover the blueprint to learn it

Search abandoned-camp chests, final cave chests and eligible ruin chests. Opening the chest is not enough: take the blueprint from its slot. It is learned for that save without occupying an inventory slot, even when the bag is full. A first discovery uses the NEW window.

A learned blueprint is not equipment and is not spent each time you craft. It does not remove material or workstation requirements. Different adventures have separate discoveries.

Materials after unlocking

RecipeMaterials
Bed12 wood, 9 fibre
Forge8 wood, 12 stone
Salt extractor5 wood, 6 stone, 1 string, 1 iron ingot
Meat dryer6 wood, 2 string, 1 iron ingot
Shovel2 wood, 1 stone

All five require an assembly table. Discovery order is unrestricted: finding a dryer before a forge is valid, but it does not supply its iron ingot. Producing your own ingots requires access to a working forge; operating the dryer also requires salt. The bed and shovel are not prerequisites for other blueprints.

Initial probabilities per eligible chest

These values apply to the extra roll when that blueprint is unknown, after base loot. The roll selects one outcome.

Salt extractor4%10%7%
Meat dryer4%10%7%
Shovel6%5%11%

With all five unknown, any-blueprint chances are 35% for a camp, 55% for a cave and 50% for an eligible ruin chest. No fixed number of chests guarantees a discovery.

Duplicates and replacement rewards

Learning a blueprint halves its weight. The removed half goes to classic rewards, not other unknown blueprints. Camps use a stone pickaxe; caves and ruins use their own classic reward pools.

For example, a known forge blueprint in a camp drops from 9% to 4.5%, adding 4.5 percentage points to the pickaxe branch. Recovering a duplicate removes it without using bag space, but awards no currency or compensation. There is no guaranteed last missing blueprint.

Existing saves and constructions

These five recipes lock until their blueprints are found, even if you crafted them before. Existing placed beds, forges and machines remain functional; existing inventory and chest items remain available. Owning, recovering or replacing an object does not learn its blueprint.

Placing an existing item is not crafting a new one. To craft another after using or dismantling it, you still need the blueprint and materials. There is no automatic unlock for old worlds. Discoveries are part of the save and follow cloud synchronisation; a backup from before discovery does not contain that progress.
