Controls and interface
The useful gestures and keys for every supported device.
COMPUTER
PC, Mac and Chromebook
Interact
Enter interacts with structures, collects ready items and uses the selected item.
Quick actions
Tab opens inventory, C opens recipes, M opens the map and Esc pauses. The mouse wheel changes the hotbar slot.
Place and rotate
R or right-click rotates a palisade, gate or bed before placement.
EAT AND DRINK
Hold for three seconds
Select food, a bottle or a bandage, then hold the left or right mouse button for 3 seconds. You can hold the item directly in the inventory or in the hotbar.
Releasing the button cancels the action. Raw food placed near a campfire opens cooking instead of being eaten. Dirty water can make you sick.
Tip: the progress indicator confirms that the action is running. Keep the pointer held until it finishes.
PHONE AND TABLET
One finger is enough
Play on iPhone and Android in portrait mode. Play on iPad in landscape mode with the virtual joystick. Select food, a bottle or a bandage in the hotbar, then keep your finger down for three seconds. Lifting your finger cancels the action.
A long press on an item also shows its information. Hotbar, inventory and panel buttons can be touched directly.
CAMPFIRE AND INVENTORY
The campfire panel
Approach a campfire and open its panel to add wood, drop meat or a bottle, track up to three preparations and collect finished items. You can also drag an item from the inventory directly onto the fire.
Chests have eight slots. Tooltips explain items when hovered or held. If the inventory is full, the game refuses the item instead of losing it.
